There was a triple date with the adult F5's & Weintribes to see Spinal Tap Unwigged ... We had a lovely family trip to the Bay Area, where a large portion of my dad's AND mom's immediate families gathered to celebrate the life of my paternal grandmother, who passed away in January ... Gil and I went to see the Dead with my parents (great concert, not too loud) ... Julian has lost another (more than one?) tooth ... Los G's Tres made a pilgrimage to Scarborough Faire, but there are no pictures of mama G in her wench outfit ... There are quite a few new plants in our yards, which are really starting to look good ... Summer school / camp has started ... I'm still employed ... Gil preached recently ... And the Dallas summer heat is beginning to set in.
All of this activity has actually made for a downturn in the Sunday supper gatherings. And my memory is short anyway, so we'll have to make do with the past two weekends.
Yesterday, with Ron & Elsa:
- Smoky grilled pork chops (from July 2009 Cook's Illustrated)
- Radicchio slaw with cauliflower & green beans (from July 2009 Martha Stewart Living)
- Baked beans (from the can)
- Sugar-free (Splenda) raspberry (or at least 'hot pink') jello cake, with red (raspberry), white (banana and whipped cream) & blue (berry) adornment
- Lemony garbanzo salad
- Eggplant-yogurt dip
- Homemade pita chips
- Salami
- Roasted asparagus
- Scallops & shrimp broiled on rosemary skewers
- Watermelon with blackberries, basil & mint
